Clover Park School District is currently accepting application for the alternate route program in the area of Special Education.

 

Internal employees and substitutes that are enrolled in a program and ready to begin student teaching will receive first consideration.

Step 1 - Apply to Clover Park School District Alternate Routes to Certification Program

  • Using the online application system, apply to Clover Park School District’s to the alternate route program posting.

Selection is determined by:

  •   District need
  •   Application/references 
  •   Interview 

This opportunity is limited to the number of candidates the District can support. Selected candidates will be placed at District's discretion based on need and qualifications.  District employees will not be placed at location of most recent assignment.

 

 

Step 2 - Select an Endorsement Area

Clover Park School District supports alternate route programs in the areas listed below:

 

  • Special Education

Step 3 - Apply to University Program

 

Step 4 - Content Area Exam (WEST-E/NES)

 

If selected, applicant will need to show:

  • Passing of required state tests, as determined by district.

(The WEST-B is a basic knowledge exam and the WEST-E or NES are endorsement specific exams.  Information on testing and sample exams can be found the on the Washington Educator Skills Test website. Link - http://www.west.nesinc.com/.)

 

Step 5 – Alternate Route candidates require an OSPI account

Step 6 - Review and comply with District Action Plan

The Clover Park School District will develop an action plan to guide applicant through alternate route process and for school board approval.

  • Candidate will be required to show proof of program enrollment in an alternate routes program with a state approved college/university.  
  • Candidate will be required to remain in the alternate routes program while earning full state certification.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  • Candidate must be able to show a minimum of 6 months' experience working with students in a classroom setting
  • 10 days of recent substitute teacher experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to organize time and materials effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and volunteers in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to incorporate literacy instruction into other areas of instruction.

 

Summary of Assignment

Under general direction of the building administrator, is responsible for planning, providing, and evaluating varied learning experiences of students in cooperation with other staff members, parents, and the public.  Educator will be teaching and completing coursework concurrently.

 

Essential Functions

  • Makes long and short range plans for each subject area of instruction.
  • Thorough knowledge of subject areas taught.
  • Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrates subject mastery.
  • Provides a classroom climate which is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency.
  • Demonstrates competency in instructional skills.
  • Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation.
  • Informs pupils of their progress in terms of the objectives set for the lesson or course of study.
  • Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district.
  • Meets classes, renders accurate reports, performs assigned duties punctually.
  • Adjusts to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts.
  • Fulfills job-related non-teaching duties.
  • Handles student discipline and attendant problems.
  • The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.  The position may perform a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
  • Maintain good academic standing in educator’s teacher preparation program (college/university).

 

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303.
