SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS ARE ON-CALL, AT-WILL POSITIONS WITH NO GUARANTEE OF HOURS OR WORK.

B. Classification Level: Substitute C. Reports to: Building Administrator and Human Resources

$200/day or $100/half-day
$210/day Upon completion of CPSD Guest Teacher training, substitute is eligible to receive
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors degree
Washington Emergency Substitute Certified issued by OSPI.
(Substitute Services will assist with this process upon hire.)
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT The emergency substitute certificate is restricted for use after the list of otherwise qualified substitutes has been exhausted. Emergency substitutes are assigned through the Human Resources office (Substitute Coordinator), and are not pre-arranged substitutes or building specific.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Makes long and short range plans for each subject area of instruction. Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students. Demonstrates subject mastery. Provides a classroom climate which is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency. Demonstrates competency in instructional skills. Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation. Informs pupils of their progress in terms of the objectives set for the lesson or course of study. Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the District. Meets classes, renders accurate reports, performs assigned duties punctually. Adjusts to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts. Fulfills job-related non-teaching duties. Directs student teachers, paraeducators, pupil tutors, Option C students, methods class students, and parent volunteers when such personnel are accepted to enhance the instructional program. Handles student discipline and attendant problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of subject areas taught: Ability to organize time and materials effectively. Ability to be flexible. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and volunteers in a diverse environment. Ability to incorporate literacy instruction into other areas of instruction.
Certification and Licenses Washington State Emergency Substitute Certification
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
Bachelors degree in Education
Masters Degree Experience in literacy instruction
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a regular school building.
