SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general direction of the Building Administrator, this position provides student supervision support during meal times and as needed throughout the day. This position works with students from a variety of multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Monitor student meal time activities in the lunchroom or classroom and address social distancing concerns.
2. Assist in the enhanced screening process to include enhanced screening room supervision and observe testing.
3. Assist in maintaining the safety and well-being of all students.
4. Create positive educational climate for students to learn.
5. Refer concerns for safety, health, and discipline to the supervising teacher or principal.
6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
7. The employee shall maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the assignment.
8. Professionally interact with colleagues, members of the public, and students.
9. Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information consistent with district ethical guidelines.
10. Foster and maintain strong productive relationships with district employees, parents, students, and other community members.
11. Work with a variety of people in a positive manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or it’s recognized equivalent (GED)
2. Six (6) months experience working with children or young adults preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to kneel, bend, and work or sit on the floor with students, based on student needs.
2. Ability to uphold and enforce school district rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
3. Ability to accurately and proficiently keyboard and utilize standard office software programs.
4. Ability to take initiative and work independently within established guidelines.
5. Ability to supervise elementary, middle, and high school students in large and small groups.
6. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to student needs.
7. Ability to work with students from a variety of multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
8. Ability to make sound judgments in emergency or crisis situations.
9. Ability to learn skills of verbal de-escalation, restraint techniques and behavior management
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
11. Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and maintain established time schedules.
12. Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner with all levels of staff and community members.
13. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
14. Must be organized and dependable.

 

Certification and Licenses
1. Background check and fingerprinting
2. First aid and CPR certification

 

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in regular school building located throughout the District. Ability to sit or stand for prolonged period of time; use of fingers, hands and arms; tolerance of loud noises and physically demanding situations are all required.
