SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

This position will work with both physical education teachers and building administrators to implement schoolwide physical health and mindfulness activities to support the mental wellness of students K-12. The position provides both adult staff coaching and direct care for students with behavioral difficulties by focusing on physical health outlets and interventions. Responsible for maintaining records and data to support a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Development and revision of functional behavior intervention plans as needed and coordination with other MTSS team members is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides training to teachers, children, and staff focusing on physical health and mindfulness activities to support the mental wellness of students.
  • Collaborates with physical education teachers and administrators to support a schoolwide Unified Sports framework across the district.
  • Works with physical education teachers to implement inclusive PE and Health districtwide.
  • Collaborates with MTSS team to implement Tier I physical and mindfulness activities districtwide.
  • Collaborates with administrators and teachers that work with Tier II and Tier III students to create physical and mindfulness activity plans to support and align with behavioral interventions.
  • Demonstrate competency in behavioral intervention skills and assist with preparation for and implementation of behavior management techniques.
  • Managing, analyzing, and utilizing student data (i.e., scoring probes, scheduling data collection, using collected data to drive student support)
  • Work with building instructional staff, counselors/psychologists, building and district administrators, other staff members, parents, and the community to ensure appropriate educational services, and the ability to relate positively to students, staff, and parents.
  • May serve on District committees, cadres, and building MTSS teams.
  • Plans and conducts building and district professional development to support students.
  • Provide professional development districtwide focused on the “Whole Child” and connection between physical and mental wellness for students.
  • Support the implementation of a Tier I schoolwide physical health and mindfulness action plan districtwide.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in education and/or psychology, social work, counseling, or appropriate related field.
  • Previous work experience that shows candidate’s leadership ability in developing, implementing, and monitoring specific behavior interventions for students.
  • Training in the following: crisis intervention, suicide prevention, at-risk students, PBIS, and MTSS.
  • Experience using computers in the classroom and for data management.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate or Educational Staff Associate Certifcate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong Background in the Health Sciences, Positive Behavior Support plans, and the design, delivery, and monitoring of Behavioral Intervention Plans.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to research issues and problems, interpret and analyze data, prepare comprehensive reports, and recommend sound conclusions.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and plan projects.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse environment with teachers, administrators, support employees, parents, students and outside agencies.
  • Ability to provide effective professional development to adult learners.
  • Intermediate knowledge of and ability to use computers and technology in the classroom and for data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and volunteers in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to coordinate special projects.
  • Knowledge of a Multi-Tiered System of Support model and implementation of a MTSS model in school settings.
  • Knowledge of a behavior interventions to support high quality instruction for all students and to meet student’s individual needs.
  • Knowledge of a measurement tools for various levels of assessment; including adaptive and curriculum-based measurement.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to observe, monitor, and evaluate student performance.
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills.
  • Skilled in using data to monitor and change intervention strategies for students to achieve established goals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and/or priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidential material and information and exercise sound decision making skills.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience operating a personal computer and applications in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentational software.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrate competency in behavioral intervention and instructional skills.
  • Understand childhood development and brain science as it relates to the physical and emotional development of K-12 students.
  • The ability to connect appropriate physical health interventions to behavioral support for groups and individual students.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in physical education courses, planning, and delivery.
  • Experience implementing the MTSS framework and procedures.
  • Washington state school administrator credentials.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in various locations throughout the school District. Must be able to talk and use fingers, hands, and arms and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. May involve negotiating steps, ramps, uneven surfaces, and going outdoors in all types of weather to reach classrooms or other buildings. Tolerance of occasional loud noises and ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
