II. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general supervision of Food Services Director or Assistant Director, with direction from the Food Service Lead, assists in the preparation and service of food to elementary school students. Prepares, displays, and serves food products; assists with kitchen cleaning. III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Assists in the preparation of food items such as pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, main entrees, fruits, vegetables, salads and condiments. Preparation may include washing, chopping, heating, and displaying food items. 2. Assembles and replenishes food stations. 3. Maintains cleanliness, sanitation and safety standards of facility and equipment. 4. Assists in wiping lunchroom tables after each lunch period. 5. Washes service pans and utensils. 6. Serves as lead associate in the absence of the Food Service Worker Lead. 7. Performs other duties as required.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education and Experience 1. One year of food service or related work experience or 90 days as a Food Service Substitute
B. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work at a moderately fast pace. 2. Ability to communicate in a cordial manner with students, staff, and parents. 3. Ability to work continuously at a moderate to fast pace. 4. Ability to fill the lead position when necessary. 5. Ability to effectively communicate with students, administrators and other school staff. 6. Knowledge of and the ability to operate institutional kitchen equipment. 7. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
C. Certification and Licenses 1. Tacoma-Pierce County Food Service Handlers Card 2. Successful completion of fingerprint and background check

VI. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed both in a food kitchen and lunchroom facilities. Exposure to extreme heat and cold, moderate noise levels, cleaning chemicals, and sharp blades, and industrial food service equipment. Ability to lift 40 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds; standing for extended periods of time, walk, stoop, bend, crouch, and carry items requiring a moderate amount of physical effort are all required. Work includes exposure to industrial cleaning products, and to moderate to loud noise levels.
